About Red Dragon Junk

Renewed in 2026, Red Dragon Junk is an intimate luxury vessel designed for travelers who want to explore the quieter landscapes of Bai Tu Long Bay. With only 8 cabins across two passenger decks, it offers a peaceful boutique atmosphere suited to couples, families, friends, and small private groups.

Inspired by the original Red Dragon vessel, the renewed junk combines traditional Vietnamese maritime character with spacious accommodation and modern wellness facilities. Its heritage-inspired interiors reflect the trading history, craft villages, and coastal livelihoods once associated with Van Don.

Red Dragon Junk offers two cabin categories ranging from 26m² to 27m². Every cabin includes an ocean-view bathtub. Deluxe Ocean View Cabins feature large windows and a private loggia, while Deluxe Balcony Cabins provide two-sided ocean views, a private balcony with a sun lounger, and an open-air sea-view bathtub.

Onboard facilities include a mineral seawater pool, spa and wellness area, sauna, restaurant, bar, and panoramic sundeck. Experiences combine kayaking, cave exploration, bamboo boating, swimming, Vietnamese cooking demonstrations, Tai Chi, and evening squid fishing.

Departing from Halong Cruise Port, Red Dragon Junk follows less-traveled routes through Bai Tu Long Bay. The 2D1N program explores Da Xep Park, Cong Do, and Thien Canh Son Cave, while the 3D2N journey adds Vung Vieng Fisherman Village, Tra San, Cap La, and a secluded beach experience in the Cong Dam Area.

Cruise itinerary

Morning

From 11:50am to 12:15pm, transfer by electric cart to the port, where the crew welcomes guests and assists with check-in.

Board Red Dragon Junk between 12:30pm and 1:00pm. Enjoy a welcome drink, receive your cabin key, and attend a short introduction covering the itinerary and important safety regulations.

Noon

At 1:15pm, enjoy lunch featuring fresh local dishes while Red Dragon Junk begins cruising through the limestone scenery of Bai Tu Long Bay.

At approximately 3:10pm, explore the natural landscape of Da Xep Park by kayak. A tender-boat excursion may be arranged when kayaking is unavailable due to weather or operating conditions.

Return to Red Dragon Junk at approximately 4:30pm and enjoy the complimentary sauna or relax in the onboard wellness area.

Evening

At 5:30pm, unwind on the sundeck and admire the sunset over Bai Tu Long Bay. Depending on the seasonal program, guests may also join a Vietnamese cooking demonstration. The Junk reaches its overnight anchorage at approximately 6:00pm. Dinner is served between 7:00pm and 7:30pm in the peaceful atmosphere of the bay. Dinner normally begins at 7:00pm during winter and 7:30pm during summer. After dinner, enjoy leisure time onboard, try night squid fishing, or relax beneath the stars. Morning

Begin the final morning at 6:00am with a Tai Chi session on the sundeck while enjoying the peaceful sunrise scenery of Bai Tu Long Bay. Enjoy tea, coffee, and a light breakfast before the morning excursions. Between approximately 7:00am and 7:15am, visit Thien Canh Son Cave, one of the most impressive natural caves in Bai Tu Long Bay. Walk through its chambers and admire the stalactites and stalagmites formed over thousands of years. At approximately 8:15am, continue kayaking through the Cong Do area, surrounded by calm water and dramatic limestone formations.

9:00am-10:00am | Check-out

Return to Red Dragon Junk and complete the check-out procedures. At approximately 10:15am, enjoy a farewell set-menu brunch while the junk cruises back toward Halong Cruise Port.

Disembark at approximately 11:30am.

Guests using the operator’s optional transfer service continue to Yen Duc Village in Dong Trieu. The visit includes time in a traditional Vietnamese agricultural village and a water puppet performance by local artists from approximately 1:00pm to 1:45pm. Arrival in Hanoi is expected between 4:00pm and 4:30pm.

After an optional transfer from your hotel in Hanoi Old Quarter between 8:20am and 8:45am, travel toward Halong Bay. At approximately 11:30am, arrive at the Indochina Junk waiting lounge near Halong Cruise Port and relax before embarkation. From 11:50am to 12:15pm, transfer by electric cart to the port, where the crew welcomes guests and assists with check-in.

Board Red Dragon Junk between 12:30pm and 1:00pm. Enjoy a welcome drink, receive your cabin key, and attend a short introduction covering the itinerary and important safety regulations.

Noon

At 1:15pm, enjoy lunch featuring fresh local dishes while Red Dragon Junk begins its journey through Bai Tu Long Bay. At approximately 3:00pm, visit Vung Vieng Fisherman Village by traditional bamboo boat. Local rowers take guests through the tranquil floating-village area, offering an introduction to the scenery and traditional livelihoods of the fishing community.

Return to Red Dragon Junk at approximately 4:30pm and enjoy leisure time while admiring the sunset over Bai Tu Long Bay.

Evening

Dinner is served at approximately 7:15pm in the peaceful and romantic atmosphere of the bay. After dinner, relax onboard, enjoy the evening scenery, or try night squid fishing. Overnight onboard Red Dragon Junk in the Tra San area.

Morning

Begin the day at 7:00am with a Tai Chi session on the sundeck and admire the morning scenery of Bai Tu Long Bay. Breakfast is served onboard at approximately 8:00am. At 9:30am, kayak through the Tra San and Cap La areas, exploring their secluded waters and impressive limestone landscape. Return to Red Dragon Junk at approximately 11:00am. The junk then continues toward the Cong Dam Area, where guests can visit a natural beach, take a leisurely walk, swim, or simply relax by the water.

Noon

At approximately 12:30pm, enjoy a freshly prepared barbecue lunch on the beach. After lunch, spend time relaxing or participating in beach activities, depending on weather and tidal conditions. Return to Red Dragon Junk at approximately 3:30pm for relaxation and leisure time.

At 5:30pm, admire another sunset over Bai Tu Long Bay and join a Vietnamese cooking demonstration.

Evening

Dinner is served at approximately 7:15pm in the peaceful atmosphere of the bay. From 8:30pm to 11:30pm, enjoy leisure time onboard, try night squid fishing, or relax beneath the stars. Overnight onboard Red Dragon Junk in Bai Tu Long Bay.

At approximately 8:20am, kayak through the Cong Do area and enjoy a final close-up experience of the bay’s limestone scenery. Return to Red Dragon Junk at approximately 9:00am.

9:45am-10:00am | Check-out

Complete the check-out procedures before enjoying a farewell brunch at approximately 10:15am as the junk cruises back toward Halong Cruise Port. Disembark at approximately 11:30am.

CRUISE POLICY

Children under 4 years old: Free of charge for one child sharing the existing bed with two adults.

Children from 4 to 6 years old: Charged at 50% of the adult rate.

Children from 7 to 11 years old: Charged at 75% of the adult rate.

Children under 12 years old using an extra bed and sharing a cabin with their parents: Charged at 75% of the adult rate.

Children under 12 years old using a separate single cabin: Charged at 75% of the adult rate.

Children under 12 years old using a separate double cabin: Charged at 75% of the adult rate plus 75% of the applicable single supplement.

Children from 12 years old and above: Considered adults and charged at the full adult rate.

Child rates for 3D2N programs are calculated according to the applicable 3D2N adult fare.

Maximum cabin occupancy and extra-bed availability depend on the selected cabin category and must be confirmed when booking.

SURCHARGE POLICY

Christmas Eve, New Year’s Eve, Lunar New Year, and designated Vietnamese public holidays: A compulsory holiday surcharge may apply.

Holiday-surcharge amounts depend on the departure date and the operator’s applicable policy. Please contact us for the confirmed surcharge before booking.

Extra bed: Available on request and subject to the selected cabin’s maximum occupancy.
